Wait, what ......if you paid attention at least a little you are probably saying, "WTF - I thought is was July 4th?" ......and it is, sort of. The actual vote was July 2nd, and statements were made concerning how in the years to come Americans would celebrate the great accomplishment of beginning the United States July 2nd, 1776.
So why do we celebrate July 4th......? Well, Thomas Jefferson took a couple of days to get everything written up and published, and even though July 2nd was the fateful day.....the paperwork said, July 4th.....
I guess not a lot has changed in the last 250 years....in that paperwork makes the world go around and nothing is official until it's Facebook Official, with everything posted for the world to see......
July 2 or July 4.....does it really matter, I mean what's 48 hours among friends? Over the last 250 years a lot of souls have been lost or laid down in an effort to first create and then preserve the union the world knows as the United States of America.....which brings me to the following question?
Did you see the blue hair freak, uh......thing posted with this essay? Think about this, 1.4 million Americans lost their lives in an effort to establish and maintain the freedoms all US citizens enjoy..... imagine traveling through time and showing a dead US soldier a picture of a blue hair freak....confused on his/her identity and saying, ".....congratulations this is what you gave your life to protect......"
Think about the men dying in a jungle in Vietnam, or the sailors resting on the US Arizona at the bottom of a harbor. Imagine the young men traveling from the United States only to die in the Great War thinking they were saving the world for all time...... Freedom isn't free and since 1776 through current days brave Americans have given their lives so others could enjoy freedom....of one kind or another.
Given but one life to make a decision to sacrifice your most precious possession (life) for a greater good...what would you think if I told you what you accomplished was to provide an opportunity for a blue hair freak that doesn't have the ability to define what it even means to be a woman...... what would you think, was the cost of freedom worth the price (your life)?
Think about the fathers, mothers, siblings, grandparents... that will never again hold their loved ones.....are you willing to see a member of your family die for stupidity....... in less than half a year the United States will hold mid-term elections.... are you going to line up to support the blue hairs..... or will commonsense win the day?
Close your eyes, imagine you are speaking with any one of the 1.4 million Americans that have lost their lives since 1776 and explain to them what they bought with their life...... Would you trade your life for blue hair.....would you lose a spouse .....a child...... When exactly did the world we live in go nuts?
Tell me, whether you agree or disagree with my thoughts, tell me, explain why even one life is worth providing an opportunity for the delusional to exist.......
