Story time: ........much of America does not have a clue in how the rest of the country thinks. Before both sides come for me, let me just say the is an over simplified explanation.... but very true.
At the time of any election in the United States 30% of the country will vote solidly for the Republican party without fail. At the same time their counter parts in similar numbers (also 30%) will show up for the Democrat party. Look back over the last 100 years and you can pretty much take this statement to the bank. (hmm, I'm thinking these days I should say Kalshi or Polymarket.....but I'm not young or cool enough to know what those two things even are.....)
So if 60% of the country is already decided....who exactly decides what happens?......
Ugh, well it would seem the 40% of the country absolutely clueless regarding what is happening around them are left to settle our future.
Thus,.... does anyone under 50 use the "thus" anymore...... Probably not, thus let me say it another way. 60% of America will spend millions if not billions of dollars to get the uninformed informed or thinking the way they want them to..... Yep, we are really trusting the clueless to decide our future. WTF.
Much of American political thought can be traced back to arguments of two men Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton.
Jefferson wanted to trust the people (by people he of course meant white men that owned property). Basically saying, teach them to read and write and they'll be smart enough to run this great nation.
Hamilton was not so trusting of the population as a whole..... Whew, what an argument for the ages.....
Sadly if you are informed (.....and it is important to note you can be on either side of the conservative/liberal debates and be informed.....) you will hear people expressing opinions that are clearly based on wrong facts or simply what they are thinking at the moment.....
For instance, I have known individuals that would not consider voting for anyone that was not a Democrat..... and when you ask they thoughts on half a dozen or so political thoughts they were in lock step with the Republican party. Likewise, I have known proud members of the GOP that were the most Liberal thinking people I have ever met....but, that's not how they voted.
What say you? Are you a Conservative or a Liberal.....and more importantly can you explain why? (That's how grandpa told me to vote doesn't count)
