Yes, you read that correctly, I came up from behind him on a 2-lane highway at 105 mph (he was running about 40 when I flew by.....) The short version of the story is we following someone and the lead investigator was getting paranoid thinking he was about to be burned...... he could see the road up ahead and was able to tell me I could pass a long line of cars and not hit an oncoming vehicle.....
The lead investigator failed to notice the trooper in the line of cars..... What do you do when you pass a trooper at 105? You push the pedal all the way to the floor and go faster..... (I instantly went to the air port and traded for a new rental vehicle....) I would love to hear the story the trooper told.... I was told the only thing he said on the radio was, ".....I think it was silver - and fast as hell."
Nothing about that day was safe..... Of course other times as a young man I strapped on a gun and did some hairy stuff..... Was any of the outcomes worth my life? Not at all.....young men often play FAFO games old men assign them..... The joys of being young, and not grasping you can actually die.
July 4th every year is a good time to reflect on what our founding fathers did to gain our freedom from the King. Should I have done this post on July 4th?......no I don't think so. You see July 4th might be the day it began, .....but the struggle was far from a one day affair, instead our war for independence continued for years.
So back to my original question.....what would you sacrifice your life to protect or secure? I recently saw a Facebook post in which women were asked if they would kill someone to protect their family? Everyone shown in the video made it clear they were not willing to kill for their family..... then the video suggested asking their husbands......
Don't ever make me choose between you and my family.... you will lose every time. There are men and women in uniform today that go to work every single day knowing they may have to lay their life down to save another person, or their country. Those are the people we call heroes.... a little over 3 years ago one of my Facebook friends lost his life protecting his community, he will be forever remembered as a hero.
But we are not talking about him today, we are asking you....- what means enough to you to put your life at risk? It's easy to talk bullshit, the world is full of keyboard warriors..... but when push comes to shove on what hill are you willing to die?
Do you love the USA enough to give your life in defense of your country? If was suddenly 1776 would you have lined up on one side or another..... I am willing to bet a lot of people have never considered it was a choice, be loyal to the king, swear an allegiance against him or just try to blend in......
Here is a harder question - have you seen me debate, or argue .....or maybe you prefer to say, "Jeff you're being a dick" when I express and opinion..... Whether you think I am a dick often depends on a couple of things.... often people that disagree with me think I am a dick - or they sleep with me (my wife completely thinks, no --- she knows I am a dick)....... But where do you line up? Think about a couple of topics that get the most air time in the USA today:
1. Abortion
2. Illegal immigrants
3. Trump
4. Conservative/Liberal
5. Protecting the USA
It is my "dick" opinion that very few of you are willing to die for any of the top 4 or 5 concerns facing America.... I say that because the vast majority of you don't want the smoke of publicly saying what you think one way or another.......'
If you are unwilling to public support your beliefs,.....common sense says you are no where near the emotional state of laying down your life for what you believe. Don't feel bad, not a single one of Jesus' 12 disciples stood tall when the time came....... Even Peter, the first Pope of the Catholic church denied Jesus 3 times before the cock crowd....
I will now leave you with this last thought to ponder...... remember the women unwilling to kill someone to protect their family? Isn't it ironic those are the same women most likely to support abortion, completely willing to kill a baby to avoid the inconvenience of having a child........
