Do you remember the tv show Quantum Leap? The premise of the show was a scientist discovered a way to time travel. Each week the hero would travel through time and space to fix an issue..... correcting an error, fixing something that would improve someone's life....
The mid 1990's were some of the darkest days in my life, emotionally the world crushed me. At that time Quantum Leap reruns seemed to be on tv 24 hours a day..... with a creative mind it was an easy fantasy to day dream my own episode, leaping through time to correct the mistakes in my life.....
Of course, I am not a scientist,.....nor did anyone time travel to fix my woes. However, the idea developed into a "What If" question..... what if you could live in a fantasy world....where and what would you pick.
This is a great question for you to mull around - if you could step into the world of fiction, where would you go? After you read this, tell us - where would you live, and what would you be doing?
Me? I would love to stand in the alley with Hank Hill, have a beer and solve the world's problems with the guys on Rainy Street. LOL, of course I am not a propane guy,.....and thus we are destined to debate the best way to prepare a pork steak.....
Dale Gribble handles all the pest control on Rainy Street....so in the fantasy world I would need to find another career. Hmm, you know if I could be anyone, anywhere....- well I think it would find me in Wyoming, the sheriff of Absaroka County. Yeah, - that tracks.... I would enjoy being a rural sheriff (especially with a deputy like Vic.....)
My mom was an incredible storyteller, hmm or maybe she was just a GREAT liar and telling stories was a collateral benefit. Hmm, yeah that is something to ponder. When I was a kid mom taught me to read a book, or watch a movie pretending in my mind that I was with the main characters..... She then encouraged me to consider what I would do differently and explain how that would change the outcome.....
My mom was far from perfect, however she had a great grasp on how to bring out someone's imagination (or was she teaching how to lie...) Regardless it is a pretty neat process, daydreaming about living in a fictional world.
It's been a long time since the 1990's.....what if time travel was suddenly invented. Think about the dilemma, would you go back and fix your mistakes.... or would you leave life as it is? For me - the decision is easy, though the 1990's hurt like hell, the love of my life was worth it all. Bring on the pain, just let me keep my family as is!!!
