With twins and triplets life for us changed so drastically, it was like we were caught up in a whirlwind of change. For a few years life in my memories is a blur, spinning out of control with the focus bouncing from butts to bottles in an ongoing cycle of life's stresses.
Today I drove pass what was once a Blockbuster video store, long since closed, but it brought back a flood of memories. Tonya (my wife) and I used to stop by the video store every Friday night on a mission to rent a few movies. Date night might be the best description, we each would pick out a movie we wanted to see, as well as snacks to enjoy during the shows.
Memories of our younger days rushed back with a flood of emotions, to the point I felt a smile spread across my face thinking about those early days of our marriage. When I realized how special a period in time those days were......
Technology has changed the world, it is a shame couples today will never know the thrill of being on the hunt for the latest movie release. Sometimes those hunts were not successful, you might see an advertisement or empty movie container....but discover the movie is not available because all the store's copies have been rented.....
I wish this weekend my wife and I could turn back time, visit a Blockbuster video store and browse the available movies. Yes, technology replaces the need to visit a store at all.....but the thrill of the hunt can not be replaced.... or maybe it is the compromises, I'll watch this if you'll watch this..... Or my personal favorite, Twizzlers or Milk Duds.......or both.
