I kill for a living, maybe someday AI will run me out of business....but until you trust computers to kill....my job is secure.
Last week I treated a doctor's home, AI was one of our conversation topics, .....hmm, well actually we were talking about what our kids were studying in college when the good doctor said what her kids were doing I was slightly surprised. My surprise came when I learned none of her children chose to pursue medicine as a career.
The good doctor expressed that AI was changing the world before our eyes....our conversation took us down a rabbit hole that I thought you might enjoy learning about.
My client graduated from one of the best medical schools in the country. Holding a honor that less than 1% of doctors ever achieve...licensed to practice in all 50 states. Legal issues quickly came a part of the discussion and just as quickly how AI was playing a role a well. AI is reviewing the medical practice's legal contracts. Something that just a few years ago would require a team of expensive attorneys replaced by AI that provides answers in a matter of minutes.
The medical practice did not immediately switch over to AI. But after a year of AI producing contracts nearly identical to the high priced attorneys....the switch was flipped.
The good doctor predicts medicine will change so much in the coming years, that doctors will need more technical skills than medical knowledge......
If you have ever heard a school complain they can't hire teachers... then it isn't that hard understand we can't be more than a decade from AI filling the role in every classroom..... I also question the future of schools.......
Do we really need to spend millions of dollars on school buildings when remote learning is so common these days. I know a lot of college kids that have mandatory remote classes.... Where did you find me? Facebook-- chances are we have not met face to face in years......if ever. So my question is....when do we no longer need the school buildings when children can learn at home....from an AI robot.......
Is there any skill you can't learn how to do on youtube? Information has never been easier to gain access to than right now. All the knowledge that exist in the world can be accessed from you phone and often for free. Last week our washing machine quit working, a 30 second search on my phone, watched a 2 minute video.....order the part I needed ($84.xx), the part arrived the next day. It took 5 minutes to replace the part......and just like that we were washing clothes again. 25 years ago I would have called a repair man, he would have gotten us up and going within a few days....and the cost would be 5 times as much......
Do you understand what I am saying? AI is just one facet to the changes we are seeing in the world. Access to information, learning in every situation from childhood to household needs is changing. 120 years ago men making buggies had a career, then came cars..... The only thing in life that stays the same, is change. If you want to survive you must change with the world....
